Longlisted for V by Very Blog Awards Ireland 2017

I had a very welcome email this morning saying that Word Herding has made the longlist in two categories of this year’s V by Very Blog Awards Ireland 2017 (previously Littlewoods Ireland Blog Awards).

Engaging smug mode…

The blog is longlisted in both the personal Books & Literature category and Best Blog Post for ‘6 Things I’ve Learned About Blogging’.  It makes me particularly happy – and by happy I mean smug – to have a post about how to blog under consideration for a blogging award.

While the next two rounds of judging continue – whittling the contenders down to shortlist and then finalist stages – it’s worth having a browse through all the categories. It’s always a great way to discover some new gems on topics ranging from politics to fashion to crisp fancying (okay, that isn’t a thing, but maybe it should be). Do check some out if you can. For a small country, Ireland seems to be very well represented in blogging terms.

Here’s the full Books & Literature longlist for your exploring pleasure. Many are excellent blogs that I can highly recommend. Others are new to me but look very interesting indeed:

  1. Congratulations! Thanks for sharing my blog (and the blogs of all those nominated) by the way. I’m kind-of surprised by the amount of entries, but then I’m also not? Like, to have not even twenty book blogs entered from the whole of Ireland seems insane, but a few said they were boycotting so maybe there’s a dozen more out there!

  2. You’re welcome, Jessica. Thought I’d share as last year’s longlist/shortlist is no longer available. I spoke to someone earlier who didn’t know about the awards, so maybe it wasn’t as widely promoted as previous years? Don’t know, really. Thanks for connecting – nice to hear from you and congrats to you too!
