Well, my day has been considerably brightened up with a blog post by UK writer Matt Kendrick.
In the latest of a series of articles, Matt discusses economical scene-setting in short fiction, and includes a teeny flash of mine (‘Socks for Samuel’, published in The Drabble back in December) as an example. He talks about how hard every word has to work to create the universe of a story, no matter how brief. It’s a real pleasure to be mentioned alongside some wonderful writers and stories. Do please check them out in the post here.
Thanks so much to Matt for the kind words, they are much appreciated. He is a very generous writer who regularly shares work by fellow scribes, while producing wonderful fiction himself (this evocative flash published in Fictive Dream is a particular favourite of mine).
