ChipLitFest Short Story Competition shortlist

Hello regular readers, I hope you’re getting those words down and that they bear some resemblance to the magnificent ideas in your mind. I have been struggling to write because of family health issues that made it hard to have any bandwidth. Things are settling down again slightly so I’m hoping to get back to some sort of writing routine.

One nice piece of writing news recently was that a short story of mine was shortlisted for the ChipLitFest Short Story Competition. I haven’t been entering much recently and this was a well-timed boost. It was also an encouraging sign for a story I’ve only just started testing the waters with. I’ve spent years tweaking this one, trying to get it right, trying to work out what I wanted it to say.

Huge congratulations to the winners – David Butler in first place for ‘Flight’, Lindsay Gillespie in second place for ‘Floral Tribute’ and Louise Witts in third for ‘Ghosting’. The three stories are now available to read on the Chipping Norton Literary Festival website here. I don’t believe the organisers have published the shortlist on the site so you’ll just have to take my word for it!

    1. Thanks so much, Fiona, and how lovely to hear from you. I hope your own writing is continuing to go from strength to strength. I feel I can’t ‘see’ people properly on Twitter anymore so I think I’m missing a lot of updates. But wishing more power to your pen!
