Everyday Kindness star-studded audiobook news!

Yesterday I had an amazing bit of writing news, which is that the Everyday Kindness anthology I contributed a story to last year is to be released as an audiobook. Not only that, the book will be narrated by a whole host of actors and actresses, including [pauses for breath] Dame Julie Walters, Celia Imrie, Dervla Kirwan, Ruth Jones, Gemma Whelan and Richard Armitage.

Aidan Kelly

My story ‘Planting Out’ will be voiced by Irish actor Aidan Kelly, who is currently to be seen in the Harlan Coben thriller Stay Close on Netflix. I’m absolutely delighted, and not a little bit daunted, to have my words read by such a professional!

I may have said it before, but editor LJ Ross has done an incredible job with this charity anthology, bringing together uplifting stories by 55 writers. Many of the contributors are crime writers, so they were stepping well out of their comfort zones – not a chalk outline to be seen! All proceeds from the anthology go to Shelter UK, and that will also be the case with the audiobook. It was acquired by audiobook publisher WF Howes and will be released to coincide with Random Acts of Kindness Day, on February 17. Available for preorder here, RRP £20.12 (I think. I know nothing about audiobooks!).

I’ve also discovered that the anthology is now available to buy in Ireland, via Easons, Dubray and Kennys among others.

I can’t wait to hear Aidan’s interpretation of my little story, not to mention all the other starry turns. And all for a very worthy cause. Lads, I’m out of my depth here!
